Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
Newborn anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia’s, acquired/congenital plastic anemia, Diamond-Blackfan anemia, temporary erythroblastopenia, congenital dyseritropoietic anemia, cyderoblastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, hemolytic anemia’s (erythrocyte membrane disorders, erythrocyte enzyme deficiencies, hemoglobin disorders, congenital erythropoietin porphyries, hemoglobinopathies, alpha and beta thalasemias), polycytemias, leukocyte disorders (leucocytosis, leucopenia, acquired/congenital neutropenia), hematologic abnormalities together with other system disorders and syndromes, platelet disorders (quantitative and functional abnormalities), the situations of hemorrhage or increased blood clotting tendency, situations progress with the enlargement of lymph nodes and/or spleen, myelodisplastic syndromes, leukemia’s.
Pediatric Oncology; the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric age cancers are carried out in our hospitals by a “multi expert team work” which includes; radiology that use the diagnostic methods such as graphs, ultrasonography, pathology which will provide the microscopic diagnosis, various surgery departments that will perform the necessary cancer operations, radiation oncology that will give radiotherapy to the patient, pediatric oncology that will give the medication treatment. Diagnosis and treatment stages of the patients are discussed in the meetings called “pediatric tumors council”.
In the diagnosis stage of the cancers; the samples taken with needles are increasingly used more than the pieces taken with operations in the past. Developed interventional radiology services are needed for this. Since our center is an advanced transplantation center these highly advanced services are also used in cancer assessments.
